Tried and tested: Balm Balm Organic Skincare

I've recently come across the organic skincare brand Balm Balm, whose range is a unique collection of totally pure, super effective products which are in line with Soil Association standards.

The company was founded in 2005 by Glenda Taylor and is built on her years of experience as an aromatherapist, perfumier and natural formulation consultant. Her aim was to create an affordable, 100% organic Skincare range for the whole body, perfect for even the most sensitive of skins, and to leave as Green a footprint as possible - what a great ethos!

Every product is 100% organic and 100% natural, meaning it is free from Parabens, SLS's and Preservatives and with no nasty ingredients, which is so important in my skincare regime. We are subjected to so much pollution and chemicals in our everyday lives that every little thing that we can do to lessen exposure to these chemicals is a very positive step in my books.

I tried the Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask which contains a ton of natural ingredients that gently exfoliate your skin without drying it out. The combination of brown rice flour, ground hibiscus and rose geranium essential oil helps to brighten, hydrate and soften the skin, while tightening the pores and balancing the skins sebum, which I find London's pollution throws off balance all the time. All you do is add water to this fragrant powder to create an absorbent paste which gently draws out impurities from the skin as it dries, so it's super easy to use. I love the feeling of this mask on my skin and noticed a definite improvement in texture and brightness after 15 minutes of application. All their products are 100% organic and plant-based, so you can be sure no nasties are getting on to your skin!

The second product that I tried was the Balm Balm Frankincense Light Facial Oil. I am a huge fan of natural oils and use one pretty much each evening as my skin tends to get quite dry after I shower. This facial oil is made from peach kernel oil, evening primrose oil, jojoba and rosehip oils which help to nourish, condition and protect the skin. They've also added some frankincense essential oil to rejuvenate and smooth out fine lines and a touch of grapefruit essential oil to refresh and to keep the scent light and zesty.

I absolutely love this oil, and I have tried many of them! It's light enough not to make my oily/combination skin angry or break me out, yet moisturising enough that it doesn't just sit on the surface of my skin but really sinks in. The smell is not overpowering or to musty, and the bottle is really handy - small enough to pack on those trips away and large enough that you know you're getting bang for your buck. It leaves my skin really hydrated and so soft, and is also great to mix a tiny bit in with your moisturiser for that extra glow.
